Compensation Range:

This position offers a competitive compensation structure, including an annual salary range of $160,000 to $200,000 and attractive benefits including:

Director of Forestry Role Summary:

The Director of Forestry will shape how the hiring company sources, onboards, and manages its global network of planting partners to deliver verified trees and world-class ecosystem restoration outcomes. This role is both strategic and hands-on, establishing the operational systems and forestry standards that support current restoration projects while laying the foundation for a scalable global forestry organization. As the company grows, this role has the potential to expand into a VP-level scope.

Director of Forestry Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Build and lead the forestry function by establishing clear standards, processes, KPIs, and governance frameworks.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a growing forestry and field operations team.
  • Develop and execute planting partner sourcing, vetting, onboarding, and management strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Revenue, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to align forestry initiatives with business objectives.
  • Oversee planting partner performance to ensure planting, verification, and survivability targets are consistently met.
  • Design and enforce accountability frameworks, conduct audits, and manage Master Services Agreements (MSAs).
  • Ensure forestry data integrity to support accurate impact reporting and compliance with internal and external frameworks (e.g., CSRD, TNFD).
  • Support and manage a diverse, global portfolio of ecosystem restoration projects.
  • This role requires international travel to planting and restoration sites.

To be considered for this role, the “Director of Forestry” must have the following qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in forestry, restoration, natural resource management, or a related field, including team leadership.
  • Expertise in reforestation, afforestation, or ecosystem restoration practices.
  • Demonstrated success in partner sourcing, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Experience designing accountability frameworks and conducting audits of restoration projects.
  • Understanding of global funding mechanisms for nature-based solutions, including carbon, biodiversity, and ecosystem services.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance impact and scalability.
  • Experience working with forestry or MRV technologies (an asset).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, self-starter mindset, and ambition to grow into a VP-level role.
