Technical Director – Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation Role Summary:

The Technical Director – Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation will bring deep technical expertise in environmental consulting, with a strong focus on supporting oil and gas clients across diverse asset types and regulatory contexts. As Technical Director, you will serve as the senior technical authority for the portfolio, providing expert review, guidance, and interpretation of environmental data, regulatory requirements, and technical methodologies. You will also support Technical Advisors and project teams by ensuring technical defensibility, consistency, and alignment with regulatory expectations across all deliverables.

Technical Director – Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:

Technical Leadership & Portfolio Oversight:

  • Provide expertise and technical input throughout all phases of environmental projects, ensuring alignment with clients, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Support successful project delivery from initiation through completion in collaboration with technical advisors and project managers.
  • Review and contribute to all technical deliverables and provide final sign-off when required.
  • Ensure technical quality and defensibility of reports against regulatory frameworks and guidelines.
  • Engage directly with client environmental specialists to collaborate on technical challenges and solutions.

Regulatory Engagement & Compliance:

  • Consult with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and support permitting processes.
  • Liaise with regulators, municipalities, consultants, and internal stakeholders on environmental compliance matters.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes across jurisdictions.
  • Identify project risks and mitigation strategies related to environmental compliance and site conditions.

Field Oversight, Mentorship & Capability Building:

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Promote consistent standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct site visits to review technical approaches and provide hands-on guidance.

Business Development, Proposals & Technical Writing:

  • Support development and review of technical approaches for proposals.
  • Ensure solutions are innovative, technically sound, and aligned with client needs.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation.

To be considered for this role, the “Technical Director – Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation” must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Agrology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, preferably in oil and gas sectors.
  • Eligible for or currently holding a professional designation (e.g., P.Ag, P.Geo, P.Eng).
