The hiring company is a Canadian construction and maintenance firm offering a diversified portfolio of services across industrial, infrastructure, and building markets. Their services include new construction and retrofits, industrial maintenance (MRO), shutdowns and turnarounds, civil infrastructure, mine support, telecommunications, instrumentation, electrical and mechanical contracting, fabrication, modular construction, and specialty trades.

This position offers an hourly rate up to $42 (approximately $87,360 annually based on 40 hours/week) along with solid benefits, including:

HSE Advisor Role Summary:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Advisor ensures compliance with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management Program, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and client-specific site requirements.
HSE Advisor Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Support site supervision in implementing and managing the company’s Safety Program.
- Work collaboratively with site leadership to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance on HSE matters to field personnel.
- Identify, document, and control site hazards.
- Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain site HSE statistics.
- Assist in planning and startup of new projects with safe work procedures.
- Maintain HSE communication boards and documentation accessibility.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Maintain regular field presence and document daily observations.
- Review hazard assessments, inspections, and safety documentation for accuracy.
- Liaise between client and crew on HSE matters.
- Conduct worksite inspections per company and client requirements.
- Facilitate orientation and training sessions; maintain training records.
- Support administration of the COR program.
- Report key safety issues to management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by site management.
To be considered for this role, the “HSE Advisor” must have the following qualifications:
- OH&S certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution (or equivalent)
- Valid Level 2 or 3 First Aid certification
- CSO designation is an asset
- 3–5 years of HSE experience, preferably in construction
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
- Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, and First Aid training (asset)
- Ability to travel or work out of town based on project needs
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and standards
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to lead and communicate with large groups
- Positive, team-oriented mindset
- Understanding of union and non-union work environments
