Corporate HSSE Manager Role Summary:

The HSSE Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of health, safety, security, and environmental programs to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization. This role plays a key part in driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring regulatory compliance across all projects.

Corporate HSSE Manager Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Initiate, promote, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with IHSA COR standards and relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites, facilities, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Provide training and education to employees and subcontractors on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and hazard recognition.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to develop site-specific safety plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance activities to meet IHSA COR documentation standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders on HSSE matters.
  • Stay updated on changes in safety regulations, industry trends, and technologies to enhance HSSE practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across the organization.
  • Collaborate with management to establish HSSE performance objectives and monitor progress.
  • Supervise and guide a team of Health and Safety Coordinators, providing leadership and mentorship.
  • Lead and oversee the process of maintaining COR 2020 certification and compliance.

To be considered for this role, the “Corporate HSSE Manager” must have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NCSO designation required; CRSP considered an asset.
  • 7+ years of progressive HSSE experience in construction environments, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading COR / COR 2020 certification and maintaining compliance with IHSA standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of OHSA, IHSA COR standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to implement and continuously improve HSSE programs, site-specific safety plans, and risk assessments.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with experience coaching HSSE teams and engaging stakeholders.
