We are supporting our hiring client, an Alberta-based company providing critical sulphur forming, handling, and logistics services to regional sulphur producers, in recruiting a Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to join their team in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Work Schedule:
Rotational schedule in a 4-2-4-3 pattern using 9-hour days: 4 day shifts, 2 days off, 4 evening shifts, 3 days off. Day shift is typically 8am–5pm and evening shift is 3pm–12am. The rotation repeats every 13 weeks and includes some weekend coverage.
Compensation Range:
This position offers a salary up to $90K plus solid benefits.
Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator Role Summary:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator supports the implementation, administration, and execution of the HSE management system at the Heartland Sulphur Terminal (HST).
This role works closely with terminal leadership to promote a strong safety culture through inspections, audits, training coordination, documentation, incident follow-up, and emergency preparedness. The Coordinator ensures that HSE systems are actively followed in the field and supports continuous improvement of safety practices.
Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a strong field presence and promote a safety-first culture.
- Support HSE system objectives through training, validation, and engagement.
- Track KPIs, maintain records, and report trends to the HSE Manager.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training and orientations.
- Assist in hazard identification and mitigation processes.
- Support enforcement of HSE policies, procedures, and Life Safety Rules.
- Conduct and document incident investigations.
- Maintain accurate SDS documentation.
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
- Conduct regular site inspections.
- Audit safe work permits, FLHAs, fall protection plans, and energy isolations.
- Prepare HSE communications, bulletins, and reports.
- Support development and maintenance of SOPs and training materials.
- Maintain safety library and documentation.
- Track training records and competency requirements.
- Respond to emergencies when required.
- Support contractor and visitor onboarding.
- Perform other HSE-related duties as required.
Core Accountabilities:
- Conduct field inspections and mitigate hazards
- Audit LOTO, fall protection, FLHAs, and safe work permits
- Coordinate emergency response drills
- Facilitate hazard identification and mitigation
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions
- Lead or support safety meetings and engagement activities
- Support training development and SOP updates

- Timely identification and resolution of hazards and non-compliance items
- Proactive hazard reporting and mitigation
- Accurate and up-to-date training and competency records
- Maintained and organized HSE documentation
- Strong alignment between operations and HSE systems
- Consistent emergency preparedness and drill completion

To be considered for this role, the “Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator” must have the following qualifications:
- OH&S certificate or diploma (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of HSE experience, preferably in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and standards
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Objective and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to present to large groups
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
