We are supporting our hiring client, a company in the Construction sector for an HSE Lead to join their team in Calgary for an upcoming project (9 months).

HSE Lead Role Summary:
The HSE Lead develops, administers, and implements company-wide occupational safety programs, and serves as the lead for the occupational safety programs within one or more divisions and/or departments. The HSE Lead plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates departmental occupational safety programs, carries out incident investigations, and guides the company through maintaining its COR certification.
HSE Lead Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for safety orientation, training programs coordination, shop/site inspections and reporting.
- Perform employee and contractor safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all Kramer Direct Ltd. employees and subcontractors.
- Manage the company Safety program, including maintaining and updating ISNetworld, Avetta, and other third-party safety prequalification and compliance systems.
- Create Safety Documentation in adherence with industry standard.
- Ensure the timely completion of accident/injury reporting to Corporate Office.
- Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate departmental occupational safety programs to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations.
- Develop and implement complex safety programs by inspecting or reviewing areas, equipment, processes, and work activities for hazardous conditions.
- Develop and conduct occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with other departments.
- Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the workplace.
- Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures.
- Lead and/or participate on teams with safety, technical, management, and other team members.
- Periodically act as a team leader to special task forces or teams.
- Provide direction and/or guidance to less experienced occupational safety personnel.
- Provide training and/or guidance to managers and others on occupational safety issues.
- Make safety recommendations and work closely with management and other Kramer Direct Ltd. team members.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

To be considered for this role, the “HSE Lead” must have the following qualifications
- Degree, diploma, and/or NCSO certificate in a related field.
- Able to work on location in remote project sites for extended periods of time.
- Safety certification training (e.g., CRSP, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information, MSDA) is considered a strong asset.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize tasks.
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
