We’re supporting our hiring client, a National Manufacturing Company headquatered in Ontraio for a Manager of Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) to join our team in Toronto.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Director of ESG , the Manager, Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) will lead lead and manage the development and implementation of ESG strategies and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and advancing the company’s sustainability goals. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of environmental, social, and governance issues.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Strategy Deleopment and Implementation
- Develop & Implement comprehensive ESG strategies aligned with the compamy’s goals and values;
- Monitor and analyze ESG trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decision-making;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations into business operations;
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations and standards;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ESG-related legislation and industry best practices;
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation as required.
Sustainability Initiatives
- Lead sustainability projects and initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
- Develop programs to enhance resource efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing.
- Promote a culture of sustainability within the organization through training and awareness programs.
Governance & Reporting
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability in ESG practices.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of ESG data and metrics.
- Prepare ESG reports and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders, including annual sustainability reports.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, and community groups, to communicate the company’s ESG efforts and achievements
- Foster relationships with industry partners, NGOs, and governmental bodies to support ESG initiatives
To be considered for this role, the “Manager, Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG)” you’ll have the following qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements in Canada.
- Experience in ESG reporting and an understanding of the various standards of ESG disclosure (GRI, IIRC, SASB, etc.)
- Experience in assessing climate change related risks and opportunities
- Proven ability to develop and implement ESG strategies and initiatives
- Excellent leadership, project management, and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
