Company Overview:

We’re supporting our hiring client, in the construction sector, to recruit an occupational health & safety  advisor  to join their team based in Oakville, Ontario.

Our client is a multi-trade mechanical, electrical, plumbing and compressed air contractor. They have been providing service, maintenance, repairs and installations to the commercial and industrial sector since 1968.

Job Title: Occupational Health & Safety Advisor

Employment Type: Full-Time/ One Year Contract

Location: Oakville, Ontario

Compensation Range:

This position is full-time and offers an attractive compensation structure and extended health benefits.

Role Summary:

The health & safety advisor is responsible for coordinating various H&S specialty areas and providing support to the HR team.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the coordination of all Health and Safety related initiatives (H&S Excellence program, Safety Bulletins)
  • Acting as a point of contact for all health and safety compliance websites & pre-qualifications
  • Assisting with conducting office inspections
  • Assisting with the drafting of company policies
  • Providing administrative support to HR team (i.e. updating training records, coordinating training initiatives)
  • Maintaining inventory of PPE supplies for all offices
  • Facilitating new employees health and safety orientation
  • Facilitating audits and inspections
  • Leading contractor safety managemet program
  • Other relevant duties as prescribed 

To be considered for this role, the “Occupational Health & Safety Advisor” you’ll have the following qualification:

  • A university degree or certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety 
  • Previous  OHS experience ideally in the construction sector
  • Knowldege & experience in auditing of management systems
  • Knowledge of contruction regulation & Ontario health & safety regislative requirement
  • Strong administrative skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Professionalism, tact and diplomacy
