An Overview of the Role :
The Regulatory Affairs Coordinator is responsible for all regulatory activities, including compliance and governance of the offices and manufacturing sites. The coordinator works closely and in
partnership with leadership, project management teams, and all site personnel to proactively develop, implement, train, and maintain regulatory initiatives. Previous experience in the chemical and/or manufacturing industries is beneficial for this role. The candidate must be comfortable spending time in the plant, which requires the wearing of PPE, including a full-face respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. This role is hands-on.The Regulatory Affairs Coordinator reports to the Plant Manager. The hours of work are regular business hours, but business needs may require changing them and/or overtime.
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Conversion of MSDS and labels to WHMIS 2015-compliant SDS for all products
- Completion of required environmental and other regulatory reports for the provincial and federal government (Alberta Environment and Parks, Environment Canada, and Transport Canada)
- Maintain environmental protection programs, including our ERAP, E2, and AEIR
- Evaluate new chemical ingredients and products to ensure compliance with all provincial and federal legislation, as per established criteria
- Enter approved ingredients and products in SAGE
- Establish quality criteria for new products in conjunction with other departments
- Develop and implement quality policies and procedures regarding the manufacture, storage, and transportation of ingredients and products
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with the employees and contractors.
- Communicate changes in operations, policies, and procedures to relevant parties
- NCR Process assists with internal incident &non-conformance investigations.Non-Conformance Stewards adjudicate the NCR program, including reviewing and investigating all quality-related incidents and complaints through the corrective and preventative action program. New Product Evaluation and Coding
- Lead the Regulatory Team in a process that prioritizes the completion of new product codes in an acceptable amount of time. That desired lead time is almost five working days. Other duties as assigned.
Support Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect the work environment to ensure compliance with all government regulations, policies and procedures
- Prepares inspection reports and ensures corrective action is taken when deficiencies are identified
- Complete accident/incident root cause analysis and provide recommendations
- Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in an environmental or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 2+ years of environmental experience
- Experience in GHS classification is an asset.
- Chemical or Manufacturing experience would be an asset
- Able to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
