Company Overview: 

Our hiring client is in the construction sector and currently looking for a safety manager to join their  team in the Peel region.

Employment Type: 

Full-Time/Permanent 

Compensation:

Base salary between 110K to 130K plus up to 5% annual performance bonus and many other benefits. 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the health & safety director, the safety manager is responsible for leading the company’s health and safety programs across Canada and ensures compliance with all health and safety legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through behaviors and actions. Review and and update written programs, audits, and accident investigations.  Track incident metrics and trends and apply findings.
  • Manage worker’s compensation incidents in a manner that meets the needs of the  employee and the company; and maintains confidentiality.
  • Communicate and collaborate with business partners, regulatory agencies, and  employees regarding safety requirements and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA,  DOT, CVOR, COR, ISO.).
  • Communicate issues, trends, regulatory updates and training materials to  employees, leadership, and direct reports.
  • Responsible for the development and performance management of direct reports.  ∙ Additional duties as assigned.

To be considered for this role, the “Safety Manager” must have the following qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health,  Environmental Management or related field from an accredited university CRSP, NCSO, and other HSE certifications 

  • Minimum Seven (7) years of health & Safety with supervisory experience or experience  in the construction sector 

  • Must have COR Certification and Experience 

  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and Regulations, especially industrial and construction for  Ontario & Alberta 

  • Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Innovations and problem-solving skills
